We Danced

“There is frequently, as in this case, a lot of die back following the egg laying by the cicadas. It is my hope and expectation that [Jen’s tree] will come back strong next spring.” T’ai Roulston, State Arboretum of Virginia

We had a nice visit at your tree today. It was a beautiful day. The sky was clear and blue. Everything was bright and green. And your tree (despite the terrible cicada damage), shows signs it will recover.

We talked, and then we danced … to Patty Griffin and Lady Gaga.

“We did not ask for this room or this music. We were invited in. Therefore, because the dark surrounds us, let us turn our faces to the light. Let us endure hardship to be grateful for plenty. We have been given pain to be astounded by joy. We have been given life to deny death. We did not ask for this room or this music. But because we are here, let us dance.” — Stephen King, “1.22.63”

  • Profoundly elegantly delicately written. Jennifer’s tree has been tested and proven to be quite tasty by the cicadas!
It looks like it was a beautiful day to dance.
Nancy Griffiths More than a Whisper is a classic. Peace for your heart.
