Closer

Jen’s hemoglobin levels are holding. Her number is 8.3, up from Wednesday’s 7.3. She received a unit of blood yesterday, and the one point bump is what her doctors were looking for. Dr. Angitipalli (the hospitalist) ordered another unit today, hoping to get that number up into the 9s tomorrow morning. If Jen’s hemoglobin level goes up and stays there it takes Jen one step closer to coming home this weekend.

The other part of the equation is pain management. Jen had a bad night last night because the biopsy procedure threw a wrench into the schedule for pain medications. Her pain score soared to “12.”

This morning Dr. Shasti warned Jen against increasing dosages and frequencies of the narcotics she is taking. He told her she will have to accept that this is going to be a “long, painful ordeal.”

Jen’s Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Lonika Majithia, talked to us about what to expect once we begin radiation therapy. She cautioned that any treatment plan is speculation until we know what type of cancer we are dealing with.

Dr. Angitipalli also scheduled a cardio consult and sonogram this afternoon to further investigate Jen’s elevated heart rate. We should have results tomorrow.

  • I always read hemoglobin as hemogoblin, do you do that? I think Hemogoblin would be a great name for a heavy metal band. 🤟🤟 Sending you love, my friend.

  • In the words of Cartman from South Park. WHAT THE F___,F___,F___Ity,F___. Unfortunately your on a stretch of road under construction with a lot of delays but with construction comes a smother road ahead. It’s easy to say be patient when your not the patient but with our experience the time spent in hospital is but a bump when your released. Keep fighting and keep laughing when possible you’ll be looking back before you know it. Love ya

  • So Jen, it looks like you’ve been causing trouble again today! I agree with Dana but I think you’re the “goblin”, is it the 5 star cuisine? The turn down service with a mint on the pillow at night? Whatever it is, we think you should leave all that luxury and hurry on home to twittering birds at 5 am, trash trucks that are now arriving before 7 am and a crazy bunch of neighbors that miss you walking Mia. How about it? We wait❤️

  • Jennifer, you are a trooper to be dealing like you are. My cousin who just moved to South Riding is in Inova Fair Oaks. Lost circulation in one of her legs, they replaced a vein. It didn’t take at first but they went back in for another 4 hour surgery. That worked. Like you she’s experiencing a lot of pain. You girls are tough. I know setbacks drain your spirit. I also know you can do it.

Jackie and I will keep the prayer going. Stay present and in peace. Looking forward to when we can all go to movies and dinner again.

  • Don’t be well-behaved. Do what you need to do and know that you have an army of people behind you. 😱

You’ve got this Jenn. You are a rock star, unlike me who tripped over my own two feet today, crashed into my printer and broke it!!

I love you, hang in there. BTW, have you seen any printers on sale online? Lol!

  • Jen, I was thinking of you both earlier today as I was watching “Jamie [Oliver] Cooks Italy” while I was eating lunch at home. I think the road to recovery leads to Italy, yes?
    Sending lots of love . . .

  • Stay strong! Love ya! Madison asked me the other day what kind of job she could get at 12 years old. I told her about babysitting and paper routes. No kidding…she had no idea what a paper route was and when I explained it she looked at me odd. Oh print…print…print. How I love thee. Hope to see your smiling face soon! 🙂

  • Dear Jen,
I’m so sorry you are pain today. I have no words to express how sad I am to hear about it.
I wish I could be a magician with a magic wand and hit plim plim and take away all your pain.
But hang in there, you are strong and we love you!
    🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽

  • I love rainbows and believe that they are a sign of hope after a storm. Today, as I was driving home in the pouring rain, the sun broke through and a double rainbow appeared. I was driving east on Route 7, so the rainbow arched over Loudoun Hospital. I immediately thought of you, Jen, under the protective glow of that rainbow. I know you are on the road to recovery. We love you and are pulling for you.❣

  • Home this weekend sounds great! Fingers and toes are crossed, and positive thoughts sent towards that goal 🙂

  • Hey Jenn, sorry to hear you’re in pain. Are they making you wear hospital gowns everyday? I know how fashion conscious you are but that kind of backless is not trending! LOL!
It’s you and hoping you’ll be home soon!

  • Jen, You will look back at this trying time and I want you to think how did I “muster up” (and honestly, i kinda didn’t know exactly what the definition meant when my Mom would say that to me, but I looked it up – rally; summon all your courage; pull together the the strength; gather some stones (ok, still not sure what that is but when you get out of the hospital, we will pick up some rocks : )) the strength). Stay strong and “muster up”. Love and always a huge hug.

  • Good morning Jen,
So guess what woke up with during the night, Aiden had peed all over me, my pjs and his Pjs were soaked, and of course the sheets as well. Had to throw everything in the washer during the night. So what do you think is going to happen next?
I miss you girl, hope to see you back at home soon.

  • Jen, You are certainly living up to your Wonder Woman status with all the challenges being thrown your way. I have full confidence you can face every one. Sending lots of prayers your way for quick answers and a smooth road to healing.
