Jen’s doing a little better than yesterday. Today’s gains are small, but we are grateful for them.
Despite injections in both hips designed to give Jen hours of pain-free recovery time, it required two nurses to get her post-surgery pain under control. It then took several “breakthrough” doses of pain meds to get Jen through her first night after her procedure.
Things did not look much better the following morning. While Jen was able to transfer from the bed to a seat, her hips were unsteady, and it was very painful.
Dr. Syed explained that while the procedure slows down damage, Jen’s hip bones are still fragile. “Any movement, even while laying in bed will probably result in further fracturing.” Despite this, and weighing the pros and cons of remaining bedridden until her replacement surgery next month, he advised getting out of bed, with weight-bearing as tolerated.
The following night (last night) was better. Jen made it through, needing less pain medication. In the morning, there were signs her range of motion was improving. We attempted another transfer from the bed. Jen moved really well, and the transfer while a bit rough was successful.
Small victories.

We are thinking of you everyday Jen. Stay strong, we know you’ll get through this.
You are so tough, Jennifer. Keep fighting. We miss you. ❤🤗
I know it’s not easy, but keep focused on the positives. They’re a little allusive at the moment, but they’re there. And there will be more coming in the future, I know it. Envision it. Deep breaths. Happy place. Feel the strength of the love of those who care about you. (You should be overwhelmed with it by now.) Love you always. ❤️
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️wishing that the pain will subside. Love you!
