Jen’s surgery was moderately successful.
The procedure took about an hour longer than planned. Dr. Syed said the CT scans showed more damage than expected. There are new breaks. Both hips are considerably more compromised. “I was able to ablate the left side, the right side was far too compressed”
Though Dr. Syed was able to get cement to each acetabular, the walls were too thin to significantly reinforce.
The nurses post surgery orders are: “Bed rest x 2 hrs, then weight-bearing as tolerated. Normal diet.”
Dr. Syed says the cementing should give Jen some pain relief. “Cement is considered tumorcidal as well, so typically if you cement even without ablation you are successful.”
We meet again with Dr. Syed later today. He will check in with Jen to assess her pain level, and discuss the procedure. “I think tomorrow will tell us the degree of success we have accomplished.”
Praying for a successful procedure for you Jennifer. Pain relief and the ability to move forward with your treatment plan is a priority I am sure for you. Please let us know if you need or want anything. God Love and Bless you both. Alan, Shanda and Savannah. Cataleya sends her love and smooches.
