Kindness

Most of the time this blog is focused on the medical side of things, which, of course, makes perfect sense. But when we’re so focused on medicine, it’s easy for random acts of kindness to slip through the cracks.

Today Stephen was able to get away for an hour to play tennis with a friend. And while I know that an hour might not seem like much time, I’ve secretly been hoping someone would call and persuade him to do that very thing all week long. I think some fresh air and exercise helped clear his mind.

Surprise gift? Yes, please! This afternoon, inside a gift bag left on our front porch, was the sweetest painting of Mia, done by a neighbor’s friend. It was completely unexpected, and brought joy to my afternoon.

Great day for a mow! One of the neighbors also surprised us with an offer to trim the yard. Not having to worry about cutting the grass gives Stephen more time to spend with me. And for that, I’m grateful.

And speaking of unexpected surprises… we received not one, not two, but three different foodie gifts yesterday: an assortment of Junior’s mini cheesecakes (strawberry, blueberry, and peach, oh my!); a Harry & David picnic lunch (Stephen was thrilled to see summer sausage included); and an amazing combination of Italian goodies I can use to create a delicious dinner (Mangia!)
