Jen and her family moved to New Middletown in the late 70’s. We were in 5th grade. Instant friends. From then until the time we graduated high school I couldn’t begin to name the things we did together: slumber parties, roller skating (probably thousands of miles worth), concerts, and just hanging out (a lot). When college separated us we still visited each other. OU bar hopping with Jen was an experience.
In 1990 she was the maid of honor at my wedding. I chose her because she was the person who I knew was genuinely happy for me and I couldn’t imagine not having her by my side. I was a little heartbroken when she moved farther away to Virginia, but I knew that is where she needed to be happy. And boy oh boy did she find happiness there. I was honored to be in the wedding of Jen and Stephen.
Even though a lot of miles separated us, we were always connected. Sometimes a lot of time went by, but whenever we reconnected it was like no time had passed at all. I will miss our always extremely lengthy phone conversations and her animated stories. I will hold you in my heart forever my friend.
