Jen had a couple of rough nights, where her meds barely touched her pain.
Last night was a little better.
Dr. Huang (Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine) made adjustments to her PCA pump (patient-controlled analgesia) increasing the dose and adding a basal rate.
Jen had a more comfortable night and her morning got off to a better start.
But Jen quickly develops a tolerance to pain medications, so Dr. Huang suggested trying something new, “an IV lidocaine infusion.”
Jen had the procedure earlier this afternoon and is resting comfortably in recovery.
If successful, the lidocaine would give Jen extended relief and reduce her need for the heavier duty meds.
I am praying the pain is now under control. It breaks my heart to think of Jen in so much of it. It sounds like you have a strong team of professionals working day and night to get her through this. I am praying for a miracle-God’s healing touch on her entire body. Praying for you too, Stephen, that God
will grant you restful sleep when you get to lay down so that you can keep moving forward with the awesome care you are giving her. Please give her my love.
I hope this works. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think about Jen every night as I’m going to sleep, hoping she might rest easy too and escape the pain in some deep slumber. I’m hoping this new method will afford her just that. In my prayers as always❤️
The torment of pain is not only physical but also mental. We pray for relief and comfort. We are encouraged from the diverse and aggressive treatment plans being used by your team of Doctors. As always you are in our thoughts and prayers. God bless and keep you both. Alan and Shanda Koehler

I hope this works and the intolerable pain diminishes.
You are both in my prayers daily. Hoping for pain relief for Jen. ❤️
Thank goodness that the new approach seems to be working and relieving the kind of pain that no one–not even Superwoman–could be expected to bear.
Love to you both. I’m still on call for meal delivery if I can ever help out just a little.
