Sixth Fraction

Yesterday’s radiation session (the last of this round) was a success. The transfer (getting Jen from her bed to the radiation positioning table) has been our biggest concern. If there are problems with the transfer, then she pays for it the rest of the day. Today‘s transfer went perfectly.

There has been some improvement since Jen started radiation therapy. Dr. Eblan explained that while Jen has not felt the dramatic pain relief we were hoping for, he expects more with time.

“Even though we’re ending today, the radiation is still working, and hopefully you’ll feel more comfortable as the days go on.”

Our stay as guests of the hospital may be extended. Dr. Choudhary (Infectious disease) wants to monitor Jen’s white blood cell count.

Jen’s count is low (1.45), an expected side effect from the chemotherapy. Dr. Choudhary explained, “until that number goes up, your body’s natural bacteria is a threat to your health.” He has Jen on a low dose antibiotic right now, and will increase the dosage if her numbers drop any more.

  • Will be keeping you both in our hearts with a goal towards these things: more perfect transfers, less pain every day, better/stable WBC and time at home, sooner rather than later.
