Jennifer Lynn McMasters Vann and Stephen Samuel Vann married 22 years ago. They were parted by Jennifer’s death earlier this month.

My wife loved people and she was well loved. Jen’s superpower was her friendly nature and the effortless way she put you at ease. Her sense of humor was “sassy, classy and a little bit bad-assy.” Jen was smart and could talk about anything. She was comfortable in her skin, and had a way of making you feel the same.

Jen loved music, art, travel, natural beauty, good food, vintage Corvettes and fine wine. She was a talented photographer, brilliant designer and a Bobcat (Ohio University alum, class of 1990).

Jen was born in Youngstown, Ohio. She will be missed by her mother, Carol; stepfather, John; sister, Beth; stepbrother, Johnny and; stepsister, Lisa.

Jen also leaves behind her stepson Christopher; and five grand children, Tyrell, Nevaeh, Sanai, Nayshawn and Leilah.

Jen first learned of her “rare, and very aggressive” cancer on June 5 of this year. She was 52 when she took her last breath — three months and 26 days later — on October 1. We were together at our home in Purcellville, Virginia, that beautiful Fall morning, surrounded by love, family, and friends.

“If I had my life to live over, I’d meet you sooner.”
