Jen’s Tree

“Attached are photo-illustrated directions to Jennifer’s memorial tree. I hope they will help people find it.” — T’ai Roulston, Curator, State Arboretum of Virginia

Quarters Courtyard.

After parking in main parking lot proceed to The Quarters, the main building on the property. Proceed to the courtyard on the back side of The Quarters.

View southeast from back of Quarters courtyard.

Face away from the Quarters courtyard and look southeast (angled left).

View from open lawn southeast of Quarters.

Proceed to open lawn at the bottom of the hill to the southeast.

View from trail to Jennifer’s memorial tree. Tree is near center of photo, in cage.

Continue across open lawn toward the stone wall straight ahead. (more below) …

There is a gravel trail behind the stone wall (The Native Plant Trail-Meadow). Turn right on gravel trail. After the trail bends sharply to the left, you will follow it for about 50 yards to a memorial bench on the right. Continue another 50 yards and turn to your right, looking up the hill across an expanse of lawn, shrubs and trees (The Rose Family Collection). Proceed 30 yards up the hill to the first tree you come to (about 7 feet tall in 2020). That is Jennifer’s memorial tree. On the left there is a patch of 6′ tall bushes.

Jennifer’s tree marked with her memorial tag.

  • Everything is perfect. I’m sure that Jennifer is looking down on the area & the tree & is pleased with everything that has been done in her memory. I hope that someday I will be able to return to see everything again. I miss her so much.❤️❤️

    • 💔❤️❤️❤️ Beautiful living memorial and plaque. Please accept my deepest condolences Mrs. Beard. I’m so sorry that circumstances of this time prevented my from being able to express them in person.

  • Finally got a chance to visit Jennifer McMasters Vann Memorial tree. It’s in a perfect spot, the sky was so blue. I had a little conversation with her, and I felt close to her.

I posted some pictures on Facebook
