PT Day

Jen did really well today. The day began with breakfast sitting up, then she was taken to radiology for a series of standing X-rays (to image her entire spine).

Cecile, Jen’s ICU nurse, is happy with how Jen is managing her pain and balancing the use of medication. “She doesn’t over do it.” Jen does not have a fever, or nausea. Her blood pressure is good. Her drains look good.

Jen began physical therapy today. The therapist had her stand (wearing her back brace) and do leg exercises. She blew into an incentive spirometer to give her lungs a little workout. Dr. Shasti wants her out of bed at least three times today. Jen will try using a walker to lap the room later (queue the Benny Hill music).

Jen is keeping positive, but is a little concerned about tomorrow’s surgery. She’s worried about the possibility of injury to her spinal cord.

Your thoughts and encouragement mean so much. Especially now.

Jen’s surgery is scheduled for noon tomorrow.
