Discharged

We are going home today (Wednesday). Jen is being discharged.

When we got the news yesterday, it was a bit abrupt and caught us a little off guard.

Orthopaedic Surgery, Internal Medicine, Palliative Care, Anesthesiology, and Physical Therapy, all feel they have stabilized Jen enough to release her from their care.

Because Jen’s hemoglobin has been trending down “slightly,” Dr. Azizi (Internal Medicine) ordered a unit of blood last night to bring her number up before she leaves.

Jen still has a significant amount of fluid retention so she will have one last inpatient Lasix treatment before we get our discharge instructions, collect our prescriptions and pack for home later this morning.

Our number one priority during Jen’s brief transition to home care (with the help of in-home nursing, physical therapy and an army of friends and family) is to make her healthy enough for her second hip surgery in eight days.
